Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo

This was a sample I got my hands on. I specify this because Pantene is normally:
- too expensive
- too heavy in residues that stay on the hair
- smells of apple

While it did leave my hair looking nice, but it needed rewashing sooner. Also, I don't believe it's claim that it gives hair '4x the damage prevention'...

That's what bothers me about Pantene, they make claims and I just can't believe them nor do I care that much about the physical properties of my hair.

Cussons Imperial Leather No. 37 Flirtatious Body Wash

I looooove this body wash! It smells like roses and the dark pink colour is gorgeous!
Note: If you don't like roses, there are other scents as well.

It lathers up decently and gives a really good glide if you are shaving.

It does not irritate my sensitive skin and the scent lingers on the skin (unlike other body washes).

Anew Clinical Eye Lift PRO Dual Eye System

This product was recommended to me by a lady who swears by it, so I got a sample and gave it a try.
While I like the idea of one jar with two specialised products, it just didn't work well for me.

The under eye cream didn't do anything that any other cream (not necessarily eye, either) could do and the upper eye gel made my eyes look... dare I say, sullen?

This may work better with others, but I'll give it a pass from now on.

Price: 3/5 ($40 for 20g)
Odour: 2/5 (no odour)

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Shampoo

This is a lightening shampoo that I have used on an off for the past three years or so.
It doesn't upset my scalp, which is nice and is of good shampoo texture (not too thick, definitely not too thin) and lather (nothing annoys me more than a shampoo without lather).

The yellow liquid has a lovely lemon-soap scent and one tube lasts quite a while, even on my long locks.

The down side is the price, which is why I always get it on special (rrp $18)

As far as lightening goes, it is very gradual and if you wanted a faster, gentle lightening, I'd recommend the old lemon juice trick.
Do not bother with this shampoo unless you are already a dark blonde or lighter, or you will be waiting a loooooooooooooong time.

Even though it is slow, it is a fun little addition to shower time and good things come to those who wait.

Planet Earth Pure Simplicity Body Scrub - Raspberry and Vanilla

I picked this up in Target last month because I needed a body scrub and this looked decent...

I was SO disappointed!
- The grains were too big to do anything except scratch my hands instead of exfoliate my skin.
- The scent (raspberry and vanilla usually a safe bet) were sickly-sweet and smelt like artificial fragrance.
- The 'goo' was slimy and some how neither washed dirt off me or washed off easily with water.

I had to throw out the rest of the products after three 'attempts'

I cannot recommend you don't buy this product enough

Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream

This is a rich face cream, which I worry may be a bit heavy for daytime, which I used as a night cream. It has an SPF 15 (which does butt-all in this ozone-torn land) but this sunscreen element it did not upset my skin, which is a plus for those with sensitive skin.

It has a nice, clean scent which is non-offensive.

I will note that each morning though after use my face-skin looked kind of haggard... this isn't necessarily the creams fault because I think my face just needs something more moisturising/hydrating.

Effectiveness: 1/5 (didn't work great for me)

Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

I got this as a sample with purchase from Chemist Warehouse (love them) and I am glad it was just a sample and I didn't buy it, because it tore my face TO SHREDS! Let me say that if you have normal skin, this would probably be a good, thouogh cleanser.... But if you have delicate, sensitive skin like me, you are in for a world of hurt! After one use, my face was red and sore for hours and the skin gods shunned all my peace offerings of moisturiser.
I get that people have this idea that oil in one's face is bad, but my face needs some, not all of it has to go :(
So if you have delicate skin, STAY AWAY!!!

On another note, just want to say I love the Biore pore strips. They work brilliantly!

Price: 5/5
Effectiveness: 5/5 (but in a bad way...killed me, may not kill others)
Odour: 3/5 (not strong, good)

Elemis Skin Nourishing Hand and Body Lotion

So let me just preface this by saying I only had the small hotel travel size of this... and I used it on my face...
So, having said that, there was no obvious scent to this lotion which I found a little thick to be a lotion.
Honestly, I didn't find this to be anything special and for the rrp of $30-$60, you can definitely find better Hand and Body lotion.

Effectiveness: 1/5
Odour: 3/5 (mumma likes her smells)

Diamonds and Emeralds EDT by Elizabeth Taylor

When I first got this perfume, I was really unsure about it. I like softer scents and this is what I would call hard (not necessarily strong, but hard).
Fragrantica describes the notes as follows:

Top notes: Apricot, Orange blossom, Gardenia, Mandarin orange, Peach, White rose, Hiacynth, Sage, Water lily.
Middle notes: Magnolia, Carnation, Tuberose, Lily, Jasmine (a personal hatred of mine), Lily of the valley, White rose.
Base notes: Tonka bean, Amber, Patchouli, Musk, Vanilla.

What I think of these notes: I SMELL NO FRUITS! I don't get the vanilla, but totally understand the white flowers in this. It just smells like it has too much. Also, looking at these notes now, with jasmine/lily/lily of the valley, I should have realised why I don't really like this scent.... I hate those flowers! (I am not a clever (wo)man)

It isn't terrible though and I have used a 100mL bottle.
I would definately call this a winter scent as the heavy scent will match your wear and the flowers will remind you of warmer times.

Price: 5/5 (very reasonable!)
Season: Winter (this is my own opinion in this section)
Weight: Heavy (I mean as in the 'weight' of the scent... does that make sense?)
Overall possum liking: 2/5

Olay Moisturising Lotion

Olay has a good reputation and the classic lotion is no exception. I can remember my mother using this back when it was still called Oil of Olay. This is a light, delicately scented lotion which is perfect for the daytime. I would describe the scent as powdery/soapy with some floral notes. If you don't like fragrance on your face, they do sell a fragrance free version.
It soaks into the skin very quickly and leaves your face feeling fresh and not weighed down.

I personally use it as a 'please forgive me' cream for my face... by that I mean if I forget night cream the night before, or if I am dehydrated (possibly from a big night out, no-one can prove anything!), or if the sun has sapped all your moisture, then THIS LOTION WILL BE YOUR SAVIOUR!

So grab a bottle, it isn't expensive, and rest assured that this little secret weapon will have your back.

Effectiveness: 5/5
Odour: 5/5 (I love it but there is also a fragrance free version)
Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria Hand Therapy

C&E hand therapies are my all time favourite hand cream, lets just put that out there right now! And this wisteria one was no exception! The formula is so thick and luxurious but it soaks in SO FAST! After you put it on, you can wash your hands (~10min) later and they will not feel greasy or slimy at all, something other hand creams can do. The scent in these is strong, so if you do buy one of these, smell the tester first so you are sure you like it. The only scent I have encountered that I didn't like was lily, and that is a personal preference.
By the brand you may be able to guess that they are pricey for what they are, but rest assured, the quality is there.

Price: 2/5
Effectiveness: 5/5
Odour: 5/5 (if you like the scent)
Avon Solutions Ageless Accolade Re-contouring night cream

Someone I know is currently selling Avon, so because it was there, I purchased this night cream. It is a pale pink colour in the jar with the slight scent of rosewater. So if you like your face creams unscented, just be aware of that. The cream was thick (good for a night cream) and absorbed pretty well. The 50g jar lasted me (I think) a month and was a reasonable price for the type of product. Unfortunately for you guys, I bought it as part of a set so I can't recall the individual price of each item.

As far as helping with being 'ageless' and 're-contouring', I did not notice such an effect, but without moisturiser (maybe I should change my name to Cassandra? Moisturise me!) I look like poop so it helped on that front.

In conclusion: If you need a night cream and want to help out an Avon selling friend, give it a go!

Hey there!

I am moz and this blog will be about beauty products I have tried and what I thought of them. When I say beauty products, I mean cosmetics, fragrances, skin care, hair care... you get the idea.
I am certainly not sponsored by anyone/any company and all views expressed here are my own personal views.
Having said that, they are my own views and I can almost guarantee that they will not match your own at some point (because everyone likes different things).
So if you just want to hear another view on a product, hang around!

Also, I am from Australia, so if you can't get a product I mention, that may be why!

Enjoy,
