Book Review - Book of Secrets

It starts with a very disappointing segment on 'The secret of attracting beautiful women'.
The usual gimmicks of trying to be something you are not.
Let's just clear this up right now, if you want a lady just BE YOURSELF. You can't trick someone into loving or liking you (not long term).
If a lady likes you great, if not there isn't much you can do to change it.
Basically, women are humans, treat them with respect.

Other 'delights' are the location depended 'Abandoned Railway Stations' which have no importance in my life, incorrect advice for snake bite first aid, how to use language to trick women into finding you sexy (pro tip: it won't work), repetitive mentions of government surveillance, and the general assumption that everyone is American.

It also assumes that the reader MUST be male, unless you show your single spinster friend the section on how to get a husband (not even kidding).

One sentence I must share:

THERE ARE NOW ONLY 8 AMINO ACIDS NOW!
Adjust your biology books accordingly!

I didn't know what to do with this book after reading it. I didn't want to give it away and risk someone else learning 'facts' from it.
But I didn't want to burn it.
I wanted to make something good from something bad.
Then it dawned on me, the perfect fix.

This bi*ch is going to become a piñata!

Maybe just watch this.
And above all else, never follow the dating/flirting/love advice in this book unless you emphatically want to be alone.

Podcast Review - We Hate Movies

This is a great podcast to learn about all the films you shouldn't see, with a hilarious film summary so you don't feel you missed anything.

The combination of potty-mouthed ghosts Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Eric Szyszka (Blame It On Outer Space Podcast), and Chris Cabin works particularly well as they bounce off each other.

It is genuinely very funny! Particular favourite episodes are episode 109 (The Boondock Saints II) ans episode 145 (Hard Target).

The only downside is I'm pretty sure Steven Sajdak is Secundus.

Art Break! - Facinator for Miss Buttons

I wanted to make a facinator for Miss Buttons.
I was thinking turquoise, fish, the sea, and Comrade (her pet cat).

I got some plastic cats and picked one out to be painted to look like Comrade.

And I painted him up to look like him:

I also got some plastic fish to paint.

I used some florist wire to stiffen some ribbons.

I was so glad this had a narrow nozzle instead of a wide pad.

I also got some shells that I don't think I'll paint.

I will use some thin wire to make it look like the fish a swimming.

With the fish, I found they were too heavy :( so I made some little foam fish.

Let's begin the assembly!

I made a base out of foam and attached it to the headband.

I then added my wired ribbon, shaping it into a geometic/gemstone like shape.

I then covered this base with sand.

I opened it at the wrong end. Phil also ate some :/

We add our little Comrade

And our shells.

I love the natural colours of the shells!

I also made a little seaweed out of florist wire and stuck it on some foam.

With bonus Phil paws!

I added sand to the base and wrapped the wire in string.

How lovely is this colour!

I attached it to the headpiece (as one would).

Then we add some extra ribbon, the white looks a bit like fishing net but more organic.

I added an extra blue coil to look like water.

And we add the fish!

As I put it together, I decided I really didn't like the fish.
Everything else on this piece was realistic looking, the fish looked out of place.
I had to change them.
I needed to know that I made this as best as I could.

So lets try these little guys.

That's so much better!

Finally some blue glass beads.

All done!

To pack it, I put it in fish tissue paper :D

I added some white cotton ribbon around it and a little fish on top!

I also sprinkled some hearts and stars on top.

Verdict: This was tricky and took a while to complete, but it was well received! :D

Woodwick Candle - Trilogy - Tropical Oasis, Sand & Driftwood, & At The Beach

This is a tri-layered candle:

The top layer was 'Tropical Oasis'. It is a light fruity scent. It wasn't overpowering but it was also present. I loved this layer.

The middle layer was 'Sand & Driftwood'. I have reviewed this scent before and it is wonderful! Sand and driftwood is a vert apt name for this scent.

The final layer was 'At The Beach'. This was the largest part of the candle and unfortunately the weakest sent. It is a soft, clean, woodsy scent.

Because the last (biggest) layer is so weak, I don't think I could recommend this candle.
But definitely check out 'Tropical Oasis' and 'Sand & Driftwood'.

Price: 2/5 ($31.78 for 130 hours)
Scent: 4/5
Effectiveness: 2/5

Art Break! - Happy Pills

I have seen this concept before, pill capsules with positive messages in them.

I like the idea but I want them to be personalized.

I have a friend in mind that I have been thinking about making these for but now I have everything I need!

I cut out bits of paper with my cutter in different colours.
This is where I will write the messages.

I won't share the messages if that's ok. :)

I have these pill capsules to put the messages in.

And this cute little bottle.

It will take a while to fill the bottle because I want each message to actually come from my heart.

Once it was full, I put a label on it. :D

I hope these bring the recipient joy and comfort when they need it.
