Garnier - Miracle Wake Up Cream
I liked the night cream from this range, so I thought I'd try the day version.
I regret this decision.
It is tinted (which I guess is ok) which I guess is the 'de-tiring' effect.
It smells like mayonnaise with a tail note of overripe bananas.
It is difficult to get the thickness right. Too thick and it pills during the day, which is not a good look.
But it is quite a thick cream.
I think it wants to make your face matte, but it just makes my skin look dry and haggard.
It really is not moisturising at all.
I will use the rest of it (probably) but only on days where I don't need my skin to breathe and sweat, not on a day over 15C.
So winter grocery shopping.
Price: 4/5 ($19.95 for 50mL)
Scent: 1.5/5
Effectiveness: 1/5

Malin+Goetz - Vitamin E Moisturiser
I got this from an in-flight gift pack, and I can see why it would be good for flights.
It is a thin, very hydrating cream with a faint cinnamon smell.
It is very lightweight, absorbs quickly, and would be a good day cream.
Price: 1/5 ($70.00 for 118mL, about 17 applications)
Scent: 3/5
Effectiveness: 4/5

The Face Shop - Chia Seed - No Shine Intense Hydrating Cream
I got this cream from (the nice, not Melbourne Central) Face Shop as a sample.
It is quite a thin cream, with no strong scent (vauge chia).
As far as 'no shine', no simple cream could do that for me, my skin is 90% oil.
But it hydrates well and would be a nice, light day cream.
Price: 2/5 ($40 for 50mL)
Scent: 2.5/5
Effectiveness: 3/5

The Body Shop - Drops of Light - Pure Healthy Brightening Day Cream
I loved using this, although to be fair, I used it as a night cream.
It has a fresh, clean scent and absorbs well.
It doesn't feel to heavy, so you can wear at during the day.
I love how this made my skin look!
The packaging is sleek and has a nice weight (the jar is made of glass)
Price: 3/5 (RRP $42.95 for 50mL)
Scent: 4.5/5
Effectiveness: 5/5

L'Oreal Paris - Revitalift - Day Cream
Apparently anti-wrinkle and extra firming, my face didn't change much with regular use (but I didn't expect it to either).
Let's go from the outside in.
Solid glass container with some serious weight to it... you could bludgeon someone with it!
The lid is plastic, but a nice metallic red. The printing on both lid and jar is sleek and simple.
The cream is a good thickness for daywear and smells like sunscreen... which makes sense because it has sunscreen in it.
Funnily enough, I can't find an SPF rating. So I'm going to say it is SPF 1 elephant.
It feels moisturising immediately and I quite enjoyed using it.
It contains Pro-Retinol A, vitamin e, and Par-Elastyl (no idea what this last one is).
Price: 2/5 (RRP $32.95 for 50mL)

Effectiveness: 3/5

The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
This is a hydrating day cream which is quite light and has a fresh, oceanic, mild scent.
It does 'mattify' to an extent, but given my naturally oily skin that quite a challenge.
The only negative with this cream is it can 'pill' if you put a bit too much on, so keep it thin!
Price: 3/5 (rrp $20.95 for 50mL)
Scent: 4/5
Effectiveness: 4/5
