Burt's Bees - Baby - Nourishing Lotion

This is a really nice, rich lotion with a lovely scent (like baby powder meets dark honey).
It is made of 98.9% natural ingredients and unlike so many of Burt's Bees other products, this doesn't have a problem with the formula separating.
It is non-irritating and I really like this lotion.

Price: 1/5 ($11.93 for 170mL)
Scent: 5/5
Effectiveness: 5/5

Aromatherapy Associates - Lotion - with Lavender & Ylang ylang

This is a thin, hydrating lotion that smells so lovely (lavender).
I'd be very happy if I had more than a hotel sample!

Waste Not, Want Not!

When I have finished a container of moisturiser, there is often a small amount left in the bottle (that can only be retrieved by cutting the container open).

Instead of just throwing this away, I have been collecting these little leftovers in a single jar.

I now have about 200mL of mixed lotion!

I added some holo glitter to make it more fun!

Always try to reduce your impact on the environment!

Purple Prairie Botanicals - Organic Olive Oil Lotion - Frankincense & Myrrh

This smells AMAZING! It is herbal and spicy.

It contains olive, sunflower, coconut, frankincense, myrrh, orange, and rosewood oil.
It also has witch hazel, black willow, and rosemary extract.

I really wanted to love this, but my skin on my torso didn't agree with it.
But you better believe it was all used up on my legs!

It absorbed well and left my legs well moisturised.

Price: 3/5 ($15.89 for 237 mL)
Scent: 5/5
Effectiveness: 3/5

Thursday Plantation - Tea Tree Hand & Body Lotion

Like Toula's father in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' who thinks Windex is a panacea, my alleged father thinks tea tree oil cures all.

I usually just tell him that he expects too much of a simple oil and leave it at that.

Then recently I got a little bit of a dry patch on my leg and figured why not use this for a test?

The Thursday Plantation hand and body lotion smells strongly of tea tree oil, but also contains a number of other botanical extracts as well, including witch hazel, macadamia and honeysuckle.
It is a good viscosity for a lotion as well.

I put it on my dry skin for three days and... It tore my skin to shreads! :(
It became red, itchy, weeping and sore.

I think the problem may be that this contains too much of the oil... and that the oil is NOT the magical cure-all you think it is, father!

A better treatment for dry skin/burns/eczema:

Soooo much better!

Price: 3.5/5 (RRP $13.30 for 200mL)
Scent: 1/5 (I think it is stinky)
Effectiveness: 0/5

Grace Cole - Boutique - Softening Hand & Nail Cream - Orchid, Amber & Incense

This smells so lovely! Incense is such a great addition to any scent combo.

As a hand cream, I found this to be too thin.
It is a lotion not a cream.
I ended up using it as a body lotion instead.
As a body lotion, the results were great, very hydrating.

A better hand lotion is the hand therapy from Crabtree & Evelyn.

In a range of scents!

Price: 5/5 ($5.99 for 500mL)
Scent: 5/5
Effectiveness: 1/5

Brazilian Butterfly - Guava and Tangerine - Blue Crush lotion with shimmer

You know my love of shimmer, we covered this before.
And this lovely lotion delivers on the shimmer! Yasssssssssss!

In addition to the shimmer, the lotion itself has a lovely opalescent look (which does not translate on to the skin).

The scent is passable, I don't love the guava smell, so I wish the tangerine note was stronger.

As far as moisturising ability, it sinks into the skin nicely.

Price: 3/5 (rrp $18.00 for 200mL)
Scent: 3/5
Effectiveness: 5/5

Olay Moisturising Lotion

Olay has a good reputation and the classic lotion is no exception. I can remember my mother using this back when it was still called Oil of Olay. This is a light, delicately scented lotion which is perfect for the daytime. I would describe the scent as powdery/soapy with some floral notes. If you don't like fragrance on your face, they do sell a fragrance free version.
It soaks into the skin very quickly and leaves your face feeling fresh and not weighed down.

I personally use it as a 'please forgive me' cream for my face... by that I mean if I forget night cream the night before, or if I am dehydrated (possibly from a big night out, no-one can prove anything!), or if the sun has sapped all your moisture, then THIS LOTION WILL BE YOUR SAVIOUR!

So grab a bottle, it isn't expensive, and rest assured that this little secret weapon will have your back.

Price: 5/5

Effectiveness: 5/5
Odour: 5/5 (I love it but there is also a fragrance free version)
Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria Hand Therapy

C&E hand therapies are my all time favourite hand cream, lets just put that out there right now! And this wisteria one was no exception! The formula is so thick and luxurious but it soaks in SO FAST! After you put it on, you can wash your hands (~10min) later and they will not feel greasy or slimy at all, something other hand creams can do. The scent in these is strong, so if you do buy one of these, smell the tester first so you are sure you like it. The only scent I have encountered that I didn't like was lily, and that is a personal preference.
By the brand you may be able to guess that they are pricey for what they are, but rest assured, the quality is there.

Price: 2/5
Effectiveness: 5/5
Odour: 5/5 (if you like the scent)
