The Body Shop - Smoky Poppy - Poppy Seed Scrub

I wanted to love this. I love the smoky poppy line.

But this was so disappointing.

The scent is more oily than smoky poppy (which is the finishing scent).
The poppy seeds are too big and round to scrub, and get stuck in the puff/mitt/sponge that you may be using with it.

It is SO oily and you need to wash at least twice afterward to get the greasy feeling off your skin.

This was just an all round ineffective product.

Price: 1/5 ($29.95 for 200mL)
Scent: 1/5
Effectiveness: 0/5

Garnier - Light Complete - White Speed - Multi-Action Brightening Scrub

As you may be able to guess by the product name, I picked this up at The Reject Shop.
It isn't normally available in the market here.

It contains pure lemon essence (I love citrus) and microbeads (which I am not so fond of, they are not biodegradable).
It claims to make you 'one tone fairer in one wash' which is absolute bulls**t.

The scent is a mix of lemon and banana (why they bring this noise?!).
It cleans well and is a good exfoliate.

But given the banana scent and plastic microbeads, I won't be getting this again.

Price: 5/5 ($2.50 for 100mL)
Scent: 2/5
Effectiveness: 3.5/5

Coffee Organics - Organic Coffee - Scrub

I received this in a Bellabox. It is essentially coffee grounds with a peppermint scent that you use to scrub your body.

Let's address the writing on the front of the package. This will NOT reduce cellulite or scarring and probably won't reduce inflammation. I can tell you this even without testing it.

Ignoring this, the rest of the packet it cute. A light aqua and white simple sticker on a foil, resealable bag. It is kind of reminiscent of the foil packages you can buy coffee in.

The coffee itself comes from ground coffee and that which is recycled from coffee pods (reduce, reuse, recycle!). It is a good choice for a scrub since it is biodegradable and the coffee helps neutralise odours. The peppermint oil is a nice addition as well.

I didn't like the suggestion that you leave it on your wet body for 5-10 min before washing it off. If you use it in the shower (which you probably would), 5-10 min is a LONG time to be shivering, cold and wet.
Like this, but you need to finish watching a youtube video before you change your clothes.
Overall, it was okay, but I'd love to see this come in a gel so the 'nutrients' in the coffee have already been extracted out and are readily available.

Price: 1/5 ($14.95 for an unspecified amount, maybe 300g?)
Scent: 5/5
Effectiveness: 2/5

Bioré - Pore Unclogging Scrub

This contains those stupid plastic beads which do exfoliate, but also build up in the environment.
This is Captain Pollution, for those of you who didn't watch 'Captain Planet'
Aside from this massive negative, this product worked pretty darn well.
It didn't lather (because it is a scrubs, and scrubs often don't), but gave a good clean (I used it with my Avon Clarisonic knock-off) and left my face feeling fresh and not shredded.

It contains 2.0% salicylic acid, which helps prevent pimples and smells fresh and soapy.

The only real negative was when I occasionally got one of the little beads in my eye (but that is probably more user error than the product's fault)
What it feels like

"I don't want to hurt the Earth with tiny, immortal plastic beads" Solution:

Just add some sugar or salt granules to your favourite face soap!

Price: 4/5 (rrp $9.99 for 141g)

Quick Fix Facials Exfoliating Scrub Mask - Blackheads and Blocked Pores

This ten minute mask contains pink rose clay, glycolic acid and pomegranate extract and is quite gritty, which makes sense as you massage it in at the start (exfoliation!).

I didn't like how it felt quite heavy, was messy to use, didn't really clean out my pores and sometimes left my face red. Over all, not my cup of tea.

Also, it smelled like dirt and oats.

Price: 4/5 ($8.95 for 10 uses)
